Group meets part Deux

So I’ve returned from a foreign group meet in Belgium, wrestlefest has been a success in the US and the Canadians are organising their next ‘Fest for this year!

The UK group meets don’t seem to be attended as much in Manchester and London?

I’m wondering why? We have a pro wrestling tradition, we have a strong combat ethic (or did anyhow)

Age? Cost? Covid? The dichotomy between jobber and heel breaking down?

Who knows!

What I think I know is that group meets are incredibly fun, and if you don’t attend one you are probably missing out, you make new friends, new rivalries and learn new game types.

For those into pro you get to actually practice it!

Anyhow, just a quick thought from me, be great to flex my pro skills a little more than just my submission skills! Anyone thinking of a UK wrestlefest hit me up!

Group Meets

Good morning all,

Hope you are all recovering from the bulk inducing Xmas day and I hope the fat man tapped out to you and have you presents (or tapped you out if that’s your thing!)

I just wanted to push an idea to those that read these blogs, go to a group meet in 2023, while one on one is always a solid staple all of us come to this site to meet other like minded men and women, group meets are such an important and more meaningful (in my opinion) connection, you not only get to battle a selection of men but you get to talk and converse about your battle, the guys battling in front of you or the battle that’s about go on after the guys in front have finished.

It makes solid connections and I’m sure people will make friends from it, which in this time of massive social connection online but ever increasing real life loneliness can only be a good thing!

I took a deep breath before going to Barnet and walked in to a friendly atmosphere which was very welcoming, even after I waded through most of them with no issue ;)

In Manchester, again a deep breath before walking through the doors to a relaxed and pleasant group of people, sadly I didn’t get to match up with all but hopefully the next time I will :)

2023 a new year, new opportunities, don’t be 80 and think “what if” be 80 and think… “Ha I whopped him good that time”

Have a great new year all!

-Pete

Keeping respect

So, my first blog post, just really want to talk about an issue that’s appeared in the last couple of group matches.

I understand totally this is a lot of guys kink, I get that and respect it, but if you ask to wrestle me in Submission style then have no ability whatsoever, that’s fine, I’m a big guy, we can talk about styles and techniques or you can get wrecked, your choice all good with that.

What I’m fed up with is when there is no competition no attempt at a sport roll it’s just an attempt to try for a cheap feel or some kind of way to get yourself off.

Recently I wrestled some older gents, one was totally pleasant and we had a great light subs match, I’m not sure if the other guy was a friend of the first or just someone he felt sorry for but the way that I felt after having a pro match can only be summed up in a word: Dirty

Don’t touch yourself then rub your hand on my mouth, I’ve blocked the offending man so he won’t see this, but after being relaxed about wrestling a guy old enough to be my father and in pretty poor shape, so I’m being ultra careful that was a literal smack in the face.

Yeah this is a whinge and one day I will be in my late 60s early 70s but if older gents don’t want to be turned down again and again this behaviour needs to be called out.

Get your expectations out in the open and respect boundaries.
