MeetFighters News
Meetups are back
Hello!
Today's news post will be the last one regarding our COVID-19 actions for a while. I hope you all made it well trough the past couple of months, enjoyed our free videos, and our new forum design.
But you all were waiting to fight again, I got the messages, and in the past days, the voices got louder to open up Meetups (events and match requests) again. So let's start with the good news, and we will also end with good news!
Meetups are open
The new Meetups page combines the old "event" page and "match request" pages into one. It has a fresh and modern design that works even better on mobile devices. Both have COVID-19 sections that you can fill out or leave it empty as you wish. This information is provided on a voluntary basis. If someone leaves it blank, draw your conclusions. Disclaimer: MeetFighters does not verify the volunteered information.)
Sadly due to time pressure, we could not complete the new Meetups page 100%. A planned feature that will be released later will present all Meetups on a world map to make it easier to plan your travel. As well as some additional filter options. Stay tuned!
Free donations
We extend the free donation from 30 to 45 days. Everyone can enjoy for two more weeks of free donation status. If you had an existing donation, it also got extended.
The donations are open again: if you enjoyed your donor status, feel free to donate.
Be sensible about how often you meet strangers during a global pandemic.
Happy fighting. Stay safe, think twice!
Best Regards,
The MeetFighters Team

2020-07-15 15:42I dont know if its possible but prehaps you could open meetups for only certain countries. The united states for example is in a very different place covid wise then say new zeeland which has pretty much opened.

2020-07-15 16:37Any chance of adding a voice chat feature on the site? It would be easier then just typing.
Thanks

Our chat has a video function.
You could just cover your cam with - easy to remove - sticky tape ;)

fantastic idea even if it was on a separate room

2020-07-15 19:07If I recall correctly non-donating members had a limit of 20 blocks and donating members had unlimited blocks. If you block past 20 people while you have donating status, will those blocks stay in place when it expires?

The blocks stay in place, but you can't add new blocks until you get below the 20 again.

2020-07-15 20:39I do not agree. I believe the site in the USA should not allow meetups in certain regions. I also believe transatlantic matches cannot be considered at this time either. My two cents worth has never been very important on here but wanted those in power to know I am not afraid to tell you when I think you are wrong.

I second this. U.S meetups are irresponsible!

Then don't meet! ;)
We are not forcing anyone to meet or use this feature ;)
But seriously, allowing it in certain countries and in some countries not would create a way to much overhead to implement. And a huge amount of administrative overhead (someone needs to update the database regulary, which countries we are allowing and which not...). (it is not only USA, also other counties are not safe to meet.)
MeetFighters is not in a position to judge which countries are safe or not.
I trust that our members can make reasonable decisions after all these past months.
And to meet you need two persons to agree.

That is not responsible on your part. I suggest a feature to block meets for international matches where boarders are closed and for US meets of any kind. That is the same as tell ing somebody to war a mask and not making it the law.

2020-07-15 22:33Nice to see this option back again. But in many countries there are still social distancing rules in place.
It's impossible to wrestle whilst these rules exist.
I honestly can't wait to commence wrestling and sorting meets just seems too early. For people especially from UK to all of a sudden start posting match requests due to the MF announcement is a bit far-fetched.
Just cus MF have arranged this, governments around the world have not.
I know obviously that pro football and rugby matches are resuming, however that is inline with being tested.
Us wrestlers as amateurs will more than likely not get tested before a meet. Therefore if there's another wave of convid 19. We will again be waiting longer before we all wrestle and fight safely.
Ps: just my personal opinion. I don't blame the marketing team for this decision I think they are fantastic and countries are at different stages and levels. There has just been too many match requests form UK residents adding 'match requests today and the country isn't ready.
It's up to individuals at end of the day
