Was a Midwest meet given any thought? Who'd show if it were held in a central location like St Louis or Indianapolis?

All this political discussion. But what I really want is to be gut punched. Post virus, and even now. However I can't figure that part out just yet. Peace and good wishes to everyone.

Just for the record (and to get the discussion back to its original intent), I've found it difficult trying to set up a meeting of several like-minded guys who want to gutpunch. Logistics seems to be the main issue; trying to decide on a date conducive to everyone, especially since most people on here still have to work for a living and may not have jobs that allow them much time off or pay them enough to travel to far-flung cities. Then there's the problem of where to meet. Obviously, 30-50 men aren't going to want to gutpunch in a hotel room. We need access to a ring or at least some large facility , like a warehouse, where everyone could pay a certain amount to rent it out. The best I've been able to manage to put together wasn't even at my instigation. Rather, some guys on here who had started getting together on a yearly basis in one city invited me to join them. Even then it was at best only about 4-5 guys. Regional matches might be more practical. Any suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Eric. Travel plans are very much on hold for me right now, of course. But who knows what June might bring? Also, as I mentioned to Gene recently on here, some of my enthusiasm for getting together has been diminished somewhat due to the less-than-favorable results of elbow surgery 3 years ago to try to improve a condition in my left hand but which in reality left it in worse shape. I'm a little anxious about using that hand for punching, although it might be OK. But I sure don't want to do anything that might make it worse. So, there you are. Thanks for your message.

Not sure how practical to have a group matches due to logistics, but one suggestion is maybe each region area have a group or tournament style matches?

Aside: Anyone in DC area want a match?

Is it racist to put "Made in China" on packaging from a product that's made in China? Who cares if it's called the Wuhan virus, the CCP virus (Communist Chinese Party), the Chinese virus, the coronavirus, or the COVID-19 virus? Honestly, I could care less. What gets really tiring are the people that overuse the word "racist" when they actually have not a clue what it means. They just parrot what they hear others parrot. The also demonstrate that they are a low information person because they misuse and abuse that word. Let's cut out the drama!

What we should care a whole lot more about is the total fraud of this shutdown. We ought to be more concerned about governors that have taken it upon themselves to act like a dictatorial king or queen. Both Ds and Rs have been guilty of this. They have decided to unilaterally suspend the US constitution. There's no politics here. Just facts.

But, still looking forward to possible meet ups when it's safe. That was the subject of the thread in the first place. Hate to have to be aggressive, but I dont take crap from anyone. Love to meet up with a particular member here that doesn't like me anymore than I like him I'm sure. Im in Iowa,,he's close distance wise. Love to exchange gloved blows to submission with him, winner handing out an attitude adjustment to the loser.

But practically speaking, there‘s no way I would fight an out-of-shape 61 year-old man who tips the scales at nearly 300 pounds. It is a medical emergency waiting to happen and I want no part of it. Stick to being a keyboard warrior, it‘s safer for you. With that I‘ll exit the thread.

Not everything that indicates location is necessarily racist. After all, the virus did originate out of China. Although it helps to avoid placing negative label on its people, one could argue, in this case, it is no more than a historic truth.

And I agree with you hardpunch, that’s why members should be thoughtful in the terms they use. Calling it the “Chinese virus” carries more baggage than just relaying it’s origin. I’ll just reference one article (link below in case anyone actually cares enough to read it) and I think that’s it’s completely relevant to this discussion on the Meetfighters platform because the title is “Asian Americans describe ‘gut punch’ of racist attacks during coronavirus pandemic”. My point is be kind to each other and enjoy ‘fighting’ as a sport and not an ideology.

"so spare us your righteous indignation' Spare your own indignation,,nobody pulled your chain in an effort to solicit your political opinions on ideology. Real simple, you live your life with your beliefs,,and I'll live mine. Again,,the virus was released from Communist China, period! That's a factual reality, period,, and I do not care what you think or what you prefer to call it. "the term Chinese virus *is* political ideology" That's your opinion,,not a fact. Again,,I smell the current hatred many champion in an effort to discredit our US President. Another pathetic sheep following the herd. A pandemic from China has nothing to do with ideology,,or politics, it's about death and the destruction of the lifestyle and prosperity that most folks, like myself, have worked a lifetime for. And like most working Americans, including the families of the thousands of persons who have died, and will die in the near future, thanks to Communist China,,I could care less what you think, and did not post this thread to hear your distorted opinions of the facts. This is "Meetfighters" not some CNN talk show. And this is about possible match ups after the Chinese virus is eliminated, not a thread asking for unsolicited political lessons on how you feel everyone should adopt your views.

I'm finding myself strongly regretting not putting more effort into meeting several rivals I was in discussion with prior to the Chinese Virus. I guess none of us have a crystal ball, and hindsight is always 20/20. I began thinking of a possible "Regional" lists of fighters wanting to consider a commitment to a group gathering to pair off with arranged belly / body boxing fights when things safely open up again. Kinda like a trip to Disneyland as a well deserved vacation after all this isolation. Possibly in a variety of cities across the country,,say,,Chicago,Atlanta,Dallas, etc. Maybe even rent a private ring , attendees watch the fights while waiting for their match ups. Others welcome to meet privately at motels to duke it out. Any ideas on this?

FYI: The WHO has since changed the name officially to the 1918 Pandemic when it realized later on that connecting a disease to a particular race of people or country tends to stigmatize people of that race. In other words, calling it the Spanish flu makes people think that all Spaniards have it or that only Spaniards can get it, neither of which is true. That's why it's important to refer to this disease by its official name, the Corona virus, or COVID-19.
