I've seen in an old NHB video (Donovan vs. somebody) a "trembling" scissor, like quickly pulsing the legs. How is that different from a regular scissor?
I've only seen one online source that taught it, no school I've ever attended has taught it, and "kidney compression" is illegal in IBJJF at least at the white belt level though I think they allow it blue and above.
nothing hotter then being trap between hard muscle legs squeezing me in long tight bodyscissors then oops theres went a couple of my ribs. im brave to feel that pain.
It might hurt as hell, at the same time it also gives me so much pleasure to feel helpless, and if you have a heal who then at that time gives quitte nasty trash talk and grinning. And then i pass out!
I received pain in my ribs in the first matches I did! it takes some time to get back in place but passes. I'm always very careful about safety when I fight but it can happen ... it happened lately ... in a match against an Italian guy. I don't think I used a lot of pressure but by mistake I tightened to a rib .. it hurt for a while. But I think it's almost impossible to break a rib!
When I was in college I wrestled my buddy who lived next door to me in the dormitory almost every day for a couple of months. Of course, I always made a "stupid" mistake which left me open for him to apply a body scissors on me.
He had an average physique, well proportioned but with no muscle bulge. Despite that, his legs were killers. He would bodyscissor me for about 15 minutes at a clip before he would shift me into another hold to get a submission.
After a while I think it became his unspoken goal in life to get me to say the magic words: "I give' while he worked a body scissors on me.
I was bound and determined not to groan or scream in pain to let him know I was approaching my limit of endurance, The best he could do was get me to gasp and/or throw my head back in pain once or twice.
He was quite creative after a while to add to my misery. Sometimes while squeezing me he'd rock me from side to side repeatedly. Since his legs were so tightly wrapped around me I had no choice but to follow his "lead." Sometimes he would shake me a bit to add more punishment. At times he would pulse the squeeze to give some short but intense squeezes which did hurt a lot.
He still didn't get a submission and I think it drove him crazy. After about a month of this punishment I noticed that if I suddenly twisted in one direction I got a stabbing pain in the rib area. I couldn't imagine what it was until one day in a rather boring class it occured to me that he either bruised my ribs or possibly cracked one.
I let him know what I think happened to me when I asked if we could back off on wrestling for a bit until I didn't hurt any more. Deep down inside, I think he felt vindicated that he did hurt me in the scissors even though he never got a submission.
When I felt better and we resumed wrestling after a couple of weeks. He avoided using a body scissor on me for quite a while out of fear of breaking a rib and risk puncturing my lung.
Instead, he switched to using a head scissors and he had a lot surprises in his head scissor arsenal to cause me a world of hurt. But, that's another story.
Well have squeezed a lot of people over time---and can just say popping a rib seems to happen more times from when you have a lot of pressure around a guys core and he they tries to twist or reach back or something on the order---If your just squeezing with pure pressure do slow take the breath and strength out of a guy they will most times tap way before anything will give---given there ribs are bending in around there lungs. So long story shorts seems to me to happen when there is some quick movement by the guy that is getting crushed. And yea is sucks and is not something I think anybody wants given takes a good amount of time to heal!.
This is why I try to avoid wrestling smaller/shorter guys than me. They tend to do so dangerous and unpredictable things that could hurt then and me to break a hold rather than simple submit.
Is it possible to break someones rib or ribs with a bodyscissor?
I have left quite a few with pain when breathing, but never nothing that lasted more than a littke while.
I did it once, not on purpose obviously. I don't know if the rib was really broken or just cracked, but in any case that's not something I'm proud of. Beginner's mistake...

Yeah the pulsing is no good. A constantly held pressure is the best. Pulsing defeats the purpose of a scissor crush in my opinion.

So true! Keeping up the pressure is best to make your opponent suffer and submit.

Probably just bruised. A bruise hurts like fuck.
Never known anyone in BJJ break a rib yet, they are always in guard/body lock.

Yeah to old teepee hurts a lot on some guys, ineffective on others.
Ive found the release is way worst than the compression. Ease it off gently

Our school taught it, at all levels. But we are no gi and gi and rules are much more relaxed. In catch nearly anything goes, even at white😁😁

And of course the strength of the person applying it.
