Unlike the general wrestling challenge where the object is to use a variety of holds and maneuvers as a process to subdue an opponent. The BH challenge is used as a single total embodiment of raw power. It is the most visceral of all holds and a show of unbridled dominance. A single embrace and constant constrictive force against the opponent's torso. When properly executed, there is no need for any additional pin since movement is already restricted by the hold. The requirement for release is the subsequent submission, at which point, the winner is determined.
This sounds interesting, but a real bear hug can only be applied by a very strong man.I had it done to me years ago and almost passed out.
I would definitely like to try this,as I am able to squeeze an opponent. It's also a matter of having enough energy.
I would like to ask other members of this group the folowing question:
What is the primary reason for applying a good bear hug?
1.to make the opponent unconscious?
2.or to get him down on the mat for pinning or submission?
I shall hopefully have to practise this with men,who know what they want.
