Norcalfur's blog

As I have been adding video clips from various wrestling matches I've had over the past few years. I realize I had forgotten how much fun, I have had, during my wrestling experiences. I cannot put all of them up here (I believe I have taped about a hundred matches), as a number of my opponents, want them kept private, but I've had some fun times, during my travels. I hope the few I have put up, are entertaining (there certainly are a variety of styles, as my opponents preferences, are diverse)!

Recently, I have asked a few of the men I have wrestled if they would be willing to have a video clip of our match, posted on the web site (since the site can accommodate up to 15 minutes of video). I realize some of you, are concerned with maintaining your privacy (hence, some request no face pics, or masks being used during taping). But if any of my past opponents, whose matches were taped, are okay with the idea (of having them on this site), please let me know.

Video viewing

I assume a blog entry is a better (safer) place to post an opinion vs. the Forum (which seems to only invite insults, sarcasm and cynical remarks, not the place for free expression). I have some wrestling friends, I have made on my recent travels, who are featured in some of the videos I have posted on Meetfighters. My friends have alerted me to the fact that they are not able to view the videos, on the site (although they have copies I had sent). Apparently, the site only allows members to view videos, if they meet any one of three conditions: A---They have at least 10 past opponents, listed on the site, B----they have uploaded the video, to their profile, or C------they donate to the site.

I had only asked about how the minimum number of opponents had been arrived at (just a nice round number?) and suggested that while 10 meet be reasonable for the places, where most members reside, for those who reside in more outlying regions/nations, there might be (and are) not even 10 active (actually participating) wrestlers, fighters, etc. Perhaps the requirement could be lowered for some of these locations?

I have posted a few video clips of my matches, on Meetfighters (most all of my matches are videotaped, though the vast majority remain private), since I am now able to load larger files.

While not over, yet (Singapore to come) I have had a fun time wrestling, this summer! Fun men, almost all reliable! I have enjoyed my matches, with some newbies and ohers, just passionate about a sport, not popular, in their region (so few opportunities, to wrestle). I spent a fair amount of time, showing others, that which I know! I gain some satisfaction, when they use those moves, successfully, against me! It's all about meeting people with the same passion, and enjoying our time, together! Had that, in spades!

What is it with guys who send challenges and then do not following through (never offering a time/date for a match, and not responding to suggested appointment dates/times)?

What about guys who send challenges or want to set up a match, but have no pics and are not willing to send any? It is insane, in my opinion, to send a message proposing meeting, when you have no pics, and the other guy has the maximum (number of pics) allowed in his profile. Personally, I do not need to have a face pic, in advance of meeting, but I certainly expect body pics (everyone has a cell phone or a camera or can borrow one, for the purpose of taking/sending pics). I put a lot of effort, into staying in shape and expect anyone I meet, to make an effort as well (and it is stated in my profile).

On my recent trip, I had one wrestler who expressed interest in a match, prior to my arrival in his city. As he was not certain he could host, I offered to host a match, at a place I had rented. When I had arrived, and messaged him about setting a date/time, for a match. He asked me if I had wrestling mats! He knew I was a visitor, what did he think, I was carrying a set of mats, in my luggage! When I told him, I could only offer, wrestling on a mattress, at the place I was staying. He replied that he did not like mattress matches, but would think about it! I never heard back from him! Seriously, if you don't have mats, and cannot host, why would you expect someone else, especially a visitor, to offer to host a match at a place with mats? It seems to me, he was not really interested in wrestling, just talking about the idea of a match.

I decided to create a blog, primarily to provide useful information for other wrestlers who might be seeking information, prior to arranging matches with particular wrestlers. My experiences, may not turn out to be similar to their own, but they are provided here, for information, and perhaps as a caution.

It should not be surprising, that a number of men on the site, are not considerate of the time, effort, and expense, others may incur, in order to meet. On my (2013) Summer trip, I had several such incidents.

Switzerland is probably the worst country, in which I have attempted to arrange matches. Few seem to be willing to host, and those who do, tend to make appointments, carelessly (a couple of whom were set to host matches, but forgot they had made appointments).

Watchout for a volatile guy in Milan, who likes to talk, and talk, but who does not seem to follow through and then places the blame, on you.
He takes no responsibility for his actions, and is quick to send off insults (in the form of angry messages, and negative recommendations), after which he utilizes the block feature, that you cannot respond.

Honestly, setting up a match, should not be so difficult, as it ends up being. Everyone should be clear about what their expectations are, make certain their opponent shares their interests, the goal of which, that it be a good experience, for both. Too often it seems, wrestlers are only focused on what they want, and do not care if their opponent, shares their interests.
